Book Blog Tours for Bloggers

What is a book blog tour?

Think of a book blog tour as an online media tour for authors and you are the media. Let me explain… have you ever noticed when an actor has a new movie coming out they seem to be everywhere; on all the talk shows, radio, magazines or newspapers (if you still read those). A book blog tour is the same deal. The author in this case is the actor and your blog is the media outlet.

It can be pretty exhausting and time-consuming trying to come up with content for your blog, if you post regularly. Say you post three days a week and want to increase that but don’t have the time to research topics, hosting a book blog tour frees you up to research your next idea. When hosting a book blog tour, everything you need is provided for your post; from photos to links and of course the all-important content.

If you are familiar with search engines you know that they favor websites and blogs that are active. The more you post the better chance you have of attracting organic traffic.

Speaking of traffic

Another traffic generator is that authors tend to share with their readers the article you posted about them, attracting new readers to your site.

Giveaways also generate lots of traffic. Keep in mind that everything is given to you. When hosting a giveaway, most of the time the author or tour company is responsible producing the prizes. All you have to do is put a link to the giveaway or insert the giveaway code into your post. When the giveaway is over the winner or winners are contacted by the author or tour company.

Book blog tours can improve your social media presence. Sometimes you have the option of being included in the Rafflecopter giveaway. I say go for it! I always use my twitter handle. How this work is that people who are interested in participating in the giveaway are asked to perform an action to enter. The most popular action I have seen is to follow someone on Twitter or ‘like’ a Facebook page. That’s where it can benefit you if you have the option.

No more struggling to get back links.

Usually the tour company, author or fan of the author will post a link back to your website for people who are following the tour.

I have experienced an increase in traffic on my website since hosting book blog tours. I must warn you, it is fun and addictive.
